Ruger AR-556 .223 Rem

The Ruger AR-556 is a rugged, reliable direct-impingement AR-15 that delivers the performance of premium rifles at an accessible price point. Built around a cold hammer-forged, chrome-moly steel barrel with a 5.56 NATO chamber, it accepts both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition. The rifle ships ready to run with an elevation-adjustable F-height A2 front sight (co-witness compatible with many optics), a six-position M4-style telescoping stock, and a 1/2″-28 threaded muzzle with Ruger’s own flash suppressor.

Cold Hammer-Forged Barrel

The 16.1″ medium-contour barrel is cold hammer forged from 4140 chrome-moly steel and finished with a matte black oxide. Cold hammer forging compresses steel around a mandrel to produce an exceptionally uniform bore with long service life. The 1:8″ twist handles everything from 55 gr FMJ range loads to 77 gr match bullets.

Forged 7075-T6 Receivers

The forged 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers are hard-coat anodized to mil-spec. The upper includes forward assist, dust cover, and brass deflector, and the flat-top Picatinny rail accepts any AR-15-compatible optic.

Shot-Peened, Proof-Tested Bolt

The 9310 steel bolt is shot-peened and high-pressure proof-tested for reliability. The 8620 steel bolt carrier is chrome-lined on the inside diameter and at the gas key for corrosion resistance and easier cleaning.
