Products are manufactured in Turkey or the USA, with distribution handled through BarWarus USA in Texas. Their products focus on ergonomics and practical modularity, designed for shooters who want to modernize their AK without excessive weight or complicated installation procedures. The company’s designs are inspired by Russian manufacturers like Zenitco, offering alternatives that remain accessible to Western markets.
Many AK rail systems add bulk that shifts the rifle’s handling characteristics, but Barwarus designs maintain balance while providing modern mounting surfaces. Their products are machined from aluminum alloy with anti-rotation features that work with standard AK furniture retention methods.
Alpha Series Rails
The Barwarus Alpha rail represents their full-length handguard solution for AK47 and AKM pattern rifles with stamped receivers. The Alpha-1 configuration is a two-piece system that extends from the receiver area, featuring Picatinny rails on three sides of the lower handguard plus a mini Basis rail on the bottom for compatible accessories. The upper rail section is designed for effortless installation alongside the lower handguard using eight screws, ensuring a clear line of sight for iron sights. Installation uses the factory handguard retainer, eliminating permanent alterations. The complete Alpha-1 set weighs approximately 380 grams, which keeps the rifle’s forward balance manageable during extended range sessions. The handguards are extruded from aircraft-grade aluminum (6082-T6 or 7075) and feature a durable Cerakote finish.
T4 Handguard System
The Barwarus T4 takes a different approach with a design that covers the handguard area while maintaining access to the gas tube. This system features M-LOK attachment points on multiple sides along with Basis rails for mounting accessories using industry-standard M-LOK rails. The system is designed for AK rifles with longer barrels (16 inches) and uses a clamp mechanism that interfaces with the barrel components. Compatible weapon models include AK 100 series, AKM, AKMS, AK-74, AK-74M, Saiga variants, Vepr-K, and similar platforms. The kit is extruded from 6082 aluminum alloy with Cerakote coating.
