Contessa scope mounts come out of Marcheno, in the Val Trompia valley of northern Italy – the same region that has been producing precision firearms and components for centuries. Contessa is a renowned Italian manufacturer of firearm mounts from the highest quality class on an international scale.
Brand Story
In Marcheno, in Valtrompia, the beating heart of the Italian arms tradition, Stefano Contessa started a small business in 1974 that operated in the field of precision mechanical small parts. Over the years, his sons Alessandro and Andrea, who grew up in their father’s workshop, learned the secrets of the trade and the importance of carrying out workmanship to perfection – and this imprinting allows them to produce mechanical parts of high precision and quality, combining tradition with technological innovation.
In the early 2000s, Contessa developed their own mounting products with patented mechanics allowing true re-zeroing QD systems – the Simple Black. That was the turning point from precision subcontractor to a recognised optics mounting brand. Since December 2017, the company has moved to a new factory, where new high-tech machinery is used for production and quality control. The result is a small but focused operation.
Product Lineup
Picatinny Rails
Contessa manufactures their Picatinny rails from steel, and they are incredibly well-machined with rounded edges that add to the elegant appearance. Rails are available with MOA options from flat to 30 MOA, making them equally useful for standard hunting setups and long-range precision work. Tailored designs guarantee perfect alignment on over 60 rifle models, from Sako to Ruger. Some models include a rear extension specifically sized for night vision devices.
Scope Rings
The ring lineup covers multiple series to suit different applications. The SPP series uses a patented Single Piece Platform design – eliminating flex, maintaining zero, and ensuring consistent shot placement under any condition. The LPR series uses 7075-T6 aluminium for a lightweight option, while the STR tactical rings add a bubble level and a universal interface cap for mounting additional hardware. When riflescope manufacturers started producing riflescopes with unconventional tube diameters such as 35, 36 and 40mm, Contessa exhibited their flexibility by quickly adapting production to this new trend. Ring sizes run from 1 inch through 30mm, 34mm, 35mm, 36mm, and 40mm.
QD Scope Mounts
Contessa’s QD system is built around their Steel Insert System technology. This technology allows maximum stability of the mount, more clamping force and absolute maintenance of calibration between releases, even over long distances. The lever, which is locked into place when pressed against the base, assures 100% repeatability. Available across Picatinny, European Standard 12mm dovetail, and Blaser BLS platforms with 0 or 20 MOA options and ring sizes from 1 inch to 40mm.
QD Night Vision Mounts
Hunters running night vision need to swap optics quickly without losing zero on their day scope. Quick detachable mounts are a great feature when you need to exchange night vision scopes to standard scope in the field. Contessa produces dedicated QD night vision mounts with extended rear Picatinny rails to accommodate the longer bases common on digital night vision units – with specific compatibility for popular devices from ATN, Pulsar, and Yukon Photon among others.
QD Red Dot Mounts
The red dot mount range covers both Picatinny and dovetail interfaces, with ultra-low profile options for shooters who want the sight as close to the bore as possible. For premium, vintage firearm owners, Contessa manufactures meticulously crafted, hand-engraved mounts. There are also dedicated interfaces for Aimpoint Micro, Docter, and Leica Tempus red dots – practical choices for driven hunt setups and semi-auto platforms.
Scope Mount Accessories
The accessories range covers ring reducers, adapters, replacement screws, and spare parts. Screws that are included have a huge contact surface and a bigger head than screws of other mount manufacturing companies. Contessa products are guaranteed for life – and if something ever fails, they will repair or replace it. That kind of backing is rare at any price point.
Why We Stock Contessa at No Boring Guns
We carry Contessa because our customers ask for them by name – particularly hunters running Blaser, Sako, and Browning rifles who want a mounting solution that matches the quality of their optics. Currently, they are the only mount manufacturer that offers various types of finish for their products, including a distinctive champagne nickel coating, which appeals to customers building a premium rifle setup.
