Lancer Systems makes AR magazines that a lot of experienced shooters quietly consider the benchmark. Not the cheapest option, not the flashiest – just genuinely well-engineered feeding devices that solve a real problem. They set out to design a better 5.56 magazine, one with the reliability of steel and the durability and weight of polymer. The result was a hybrid construction approach that has proven itself across military, law enforcement, and competition use.
Lancer Systems is proudly made in Pennsylvania. They design, develop, and test all advanced weapons and components in-house. That matters because it means the tolerances are controlled start to finish. You are not dealing with a brand that outsources tooling and hopes it comes together. With Lancer mags, what you buy is what the engineers signed off on.
Brand Story
Lancer engineers and manufactures advanced hard-use weapon systems and components for the modern warfighter, law enforcement officer, and competitive shooter – and the Advanced Warfighter Magazine is their flagship product. Their engineers specialise in lightweight composite material design, covering thermoplastics, thermosets, and ceramic-matrix materials, where the potential advantages include weight savings, stiffness-to-weight ratio, self-lubricity, and performance at extreme temperatures. That composite expertise is what separates Lancer products from most AR magazine manufacturers, who are simply stamping steel or injection-moulding polymer without the materials science background behind it. Their philosophy of a dynamic engineering culture promotes flexible project management and a mission of bringing the firearms industry forward into the 21st century.
Lancer Systems Magazines – Product Lineup
L5AWM – AR-15 Magazines
The L5AWM stands for the “L5 Advanced Warfighter Magazine”, built for AR-15 and M4 rifles in .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO. The exclusive hybrid design includes a hardened steel feed lip assembly moulded into a proprietary polymer body with aggressive surface texturing, creating a magazine tough enough for military, law enforcement, and competition applications. The core insight here is simple: polymer feed lips are the weak point of most budget magazines, especially after extended loaded storage. Steel feed lips don’t deform under spring pressure.
Because the L5AWM uses the hybrid design of steel feed lips and polymer body, the manufacturer was able to use a special unfilled polymer to give it a translucent quality, letting the user identify how many rounds remain without removing the magazine from the rifle. The polymer body is tested from -40°F to +180°F, and the non-tilt follower with stainless steel spring allows loaded magazine storage without degrading performance. Compatibility covers the M4/M16/AR-15, SCAR 16, HK416, ARX160, SIG 556, ACR, SIG MCX, IWI Tavor, IWI X95, and SA80. Capacity options run from 5 to 30 rounds, with a dedicated .300 Blackout variant for heavy subsonic loads. Gen 2 versions added improved feedlip geometry for enhanced round retention and a redesigned floorplate to reduce free stack space.
L7AWM – AR-10 Magazines
The L7AWM stands for the “L7 Advanced Warfighter Magazine”, built for AR-10 and SR-25 rifles in .308 Winchester and 7.62x51mm NATO. Lancer engineers took lessons learned from the Lancer L5AWM and user feedback to develop a lightweight, reliable 7.62x51mm magazine – incorporating a unique dual steel design that wraps completely around the magazine, maximising stiffness and feeding reliability while minimising wear and dimpling caused by high-volume firing. The magazine also contains a switchable drain located on the floor plate lock, allowing the user to configure it between water-borne and extreme dust conditions. A practical feature that most 7.62 magazine makers simply don’t bother with. The L7AWM is available in 20-round and 25-round configurations and also supports 6.5 Creedmoor.
Shotgun Magazine Extensions
Lancer’s carbon fibre LSX extended 12-gauge shotgun magazine tubes are designed as an increased-capacity solution for hunting, competition, and home defence. Designed to install in place of the factory magazine tube cap, these extension tubes provide increased capacity for most popular shotgun models while adding considerably less swing weight than traditional aluminium extension tubes. They add between 2 and 8 extra rounds to your shotgun’s magazine tube. Supported platforms include Beretta 1301, Benelli M1/M2, Remington 870/1100/1187/VersaMax, Mossberg 590/930, and Stoeger M3000/M3K. For 3-gun competitors, these are genuinely useful and the carbon fibre construction keeps the balance point manageable.
Why We Stock Lancer Products
At No Boring Guns, we stock Lancer Systems mags because our customers ask for them by name and the demand is consistent. AR-platform shooters in Europe have historically had limited access to Lancer mags through local retailers, which meant waiting on international shipping or settling for alternatives. We carry the full range so you don’t have to.
