The HOWA 1500 Heavy Barrel Varminter in .308 Win with a 24″ barrel is HOWA’s dedicated target, varmint, and precision-hunting configuration. Same forged 1500 action, but topped with a heavy #6 contour, free-floated, cold hammer forged barrel designed for thermal stability through long shooting strings.

Heavy #6 Contour Barrel

The #6 heavy contour profile is what separates this HB from standard sporter HOWAs. The added steel keeps point-of-impact stable across strings of fire, holds tighter groups as the barrel heats, and damps vibration for more consistent results from the first shot to the fifth. The 24″ length maximizes .308 Winchester velocity while still remaining practical for field use.

Free-Floating, Threaded Muzzle

The barrel free-floats from the forend for consistent accuracy regardless of sling pressure, bipod loading, or field positions. Threaded 5/8″-24 UNEF at the muzzle, it accepts suppressors or muzzle brakes directly — a popular choice among shooters who want a precision .308 host for can work.

Forged HOWA 1500 Action and HACT Trigger

All the 1500’s hallmarks apply: forged one-piece bolt, dual locking lugs, Sako-style external extractor, plunger ejector, and HACT two-stage match trigger tuned around 3 lb from the factory. The three-position safety allows bolt operation with the safety engaged.
